Meet Dr. Austin-Small
Quinn Austin-Small, Ph.D.
Dr. Austin-Small founded Austin-Small Consulting in 2015. Dr. Austin-Small specializes in thorough evaluation, diagnosis, and causality analysis of complex psychiatric disorders. His doctoral internship was completed at Rikers Island, part of NY DOHMH Correctional Health services. His dissertation focused on identity construction and its effects throughout the lifespan. Dr. Austin-Small has twenty years of experience in the mental health field in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, and has worked in outpatient, emergency room, and correctional settings.
Dr. Austin-Small continues to refine his expertise through ongoing education and certification. Certifications and professional trainings include:

Dr. Austin-Small is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and Certified Trauma Specialist with the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists.

Austin-Small Consulting was started in June 2015. With headquarters in New York's Capital District, Dr. Austin-Small provides evaluations nationally throughout the United States. Austin-Small Consulting delivers reports to attorneys and courts in the Federal, State, and local systems regarding complex analysis of psychiatric disorders and events.
Attorneys are always welcome to call Dr. Austin-Small directly. Dr. Austin-Small is happy to discuss your needs, including turn-around time. He works well with claimants who can struggle with maintaining effective relationships with providers. Formal referrals can be made via email or postal mail, and all records will be reviewed prior to claimant clinical interview.
Claimants are scheduled and evaluated by Dr. Austin-Small without the frustrations that can arise when leaving messages with front desk staff. Evaluations are conducted at times convenient for the client, which can include evening and weekend appointments. There is no rush or artificial time limit set on clinical interviews- they can last as long as is required. Where appropriate, cognitive, neuropsychological, and psychiatric assessment batteries can be conducted. Collateral interviews with family members or supports are welcomed.
