PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Dr. Austin-Small comes from a family that has served in every branch of the military and every major conflict, beginning with the American Revolution. The uncle with whom he shares part of his name stormed the beach of Normandy in the Army, and returned to service with the Navy in Korea. Another uncle was responsible for keeping the communication lines active and guarded in Vietnam.
