PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Dr. Austin-Small comes from a family that has served in every branch of the military and every major conflict, beginning with the American Revolution. The uncle with whom he shares part of his name stormed the beach of Normandy in the Army, and returned to service with the Navy in Korea. Another uncle was responsible for keeping the communication lines active and guarded in Vietnam. Dr. Austin-Small takes the experiences of veterans seriously, and continues the family tradition of public service and comittment to public health.

Dr. Austin-Small has over 25 years in the field. He has worked in a wide variety of inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings in psychotherapist, evaluator, and directorship roles. This includes working for agencies such as:
